The Climber

The Climber

Big-sister energy can shape you well.
The space to grow is where the mountains are.
Even the bravest are afraid: the will
to overcome your fears is how you soar.

The comfort of the unexpected’s where
you find and make yourself, the stubborn rocks
more than a match for fire or air.
And yet you meet it. There, your heart unlocks

among the elements that open out
onto a nothingness so deep, so vast.
You have to keep your wits so close about.
The strength you build like stone will last.
